The AWL’s most prestigious fundraising event the ‘Dogz Dinner’ took place on Friday 5th October at the Hyatt Adelaide Ballroom. This inaugural black tie dinner, hosted by Channel 7’s Melody Horrill and Murray Nicoll, saw over 250 of Adelaide’s movers and shakers in attendance for an evening of quality food, wine and fantastic entertainment.

The evening kicked off with a heart-wrenching promotional DVD which showcased the plight of the 20,000 lost and abandoned companion animals that are cared for by the AWL on an annual basis. Titled ‘This Years Love’ the DVD was conceptualized, fully scripted and the sound track selected by the AWL’s Business Development Manager with footage and production undertaken by John McGuire of FisheyeTV. It was a fitting opening to the evening resulting with barely a dry eye in the room.
Guests were entertained by the stunning String Angels, three of Australia’s leading violinists who brought a dynamic new feel to the string classics. Magician Ben Hutton amazed the crowd with his performance – and his sense of humour.
Toop & Toop Real Estate kindly donated the services of radio-voiced auctioneer Mike Rogers who undertook the major auction with enthusiasm and outstanding results. Special thanks must also go to Qantas SA; Heliair; Sfera’s On The Park, Prestigious Jag Limousines, Dr Mike Bossley AM, Adelaide Motors, Pedigree Foods and the Australian Wine Technical Conference for their donation of the top quality major auction items.
The cheeky and entertaining antics of Chad Romero & Cabernet Cabaret had the dance floor packed from go to whoa, and provided the perfect finale for an evening that can only be described as an outstanding success.
The silent auction also offered the opportunity for some exciting activities, experiences and the odd bargain. A list of all auction donors can be found below and the AWL sincerely thanks each and everyone for their valuable contribution to the night’s success.
